I’ve been wondering if i could take drum lessons but i don’t really want to spend that much money. So i’m wondering if i could do it with out lessons and do it with books and other resources.
Well, theoretically, it is possible to learn how to “play it” all by your self, but you probably won’t hold your sticks the same way as others and other minor details like that. Another thing is that without an instructional book/video/whatever you prefer, you probably won’t be able to read the music, unless you have previous percussive experience, or you’re just that awesome that you’ve trained yourself to read any kind music accurately.
Worry not! There is a way of learning drums without paying much. (Obviously, you’ll need to pay for the drums unless you’ve got some at home or you borrow a friend’s) youtube.com has very informative videos that will teach you all kinds of drumming techniques like 9-stroke rolls, traditional grips, swing rhythms, and much more.
