Albert Collins is …
Albert Collins is one of the greatest Bluesmen of all time. Very hard to copy him note for note. He tunes his guitar differently and usually moves the capo to a different fret for every song. I saw him in concert maybe 12 times. He always put on a killer show and was a great showman.

Also, when you start analyzing everything and taking it apart, you get distracted from what really matters – feeling. When you bend a note and people from the audience whistle and shout it’s not something you think about doing consciously, it jus happens. Its feeling. Blues is feeling. Bending a note is something that is either in you, or not. You can learn it, but not the same.

i’m just saying …
i’m just saying little things like bending strings, and well most of the technique stuff, not theory and chrods and scales, came naturally to me and probably albert too. Infact, I don’t know what half of the stuff I play is called…just sounds right and I can play with other people so it must be right. I’m sure albert played by ear too.

What a ridiculous thing to say. How do you think Albert King learnt? By watching other people play, it’s the best way to learn. If videos give people the chance to learn from the masters, then power to them.

This just tells you how you can learn a whole bunch of notes and scales but if you dont have the natural ability you will never get anywhere its an art not a science. These guys never learned from books or videos just playing out with better players thats it..

If you have to learn this stuff from watching a video, you might want to find something else to play…the blues is not for you.

It’s cool how playing guitar is just second nature to Albert. This interviewer is asking him all these questions about his technique and he can’t explain it cause he just does it. A true musician. One cool cat.
