I play piano, but I'm learning the guitar. I want to take piano lessons again (to get better) and take guitar lessons. Is it a good idea to get lessons for two different instruments?
I'd look for a guitar instructor who also plays keyboards. You CAN kill two birds with one stone, and it will save money in the long run.
The guitar method I teach is based on constant comparisons to keyboards and piano sheet music. The guitar simply becomes in essence, a mini-piano. Because I teach fingerstyle (no picks), the emphasis is on having a bass line, harmonies (chords) and the melody all divided among the six strings and played as a unit, just like most piano compositions.
Good for you! Knowing both instruments will ALWAYS serve you well!
