hi music guru , how … hi music guru , how do you like this chord for the right hand in ‘as time goes by ‘ at ‘mate’ ‘… and man must have his mate …. that no one can deny … ‘ la dee dah dah ! great song .
at about 43 sec you … at about 43 sec you name a E 7 chord as E bass ,Ab for harmony, which I’d rather call a G#. I have seen a script of Chopin’s prelude in Em (28-4), where he uses a C7, but writes:
C E A#(out of th B scale, closer to Em )
What’s an inversion … What’s an inversion?
Sorry, I learn’t music in french so I don’t really know what you’re talking about.
I’m already having trouble with the notes being letters. I just wanted to know what the 9 was for. Thank you very much anyway for replying to my comment
Of course it is! … Of course it is! Any chord is possible on the piano. If you’re talking about the impracticle notes involved in a Db9 chord, then you can simply invert it.
My favourite inversion of Db9 is:
Cool..! – hey, i … Cool..! – hey, i think that another way of calling what you’re doing is using ”passing chords” to go point a to point b within a key… i believe you can also do this going up and down the scale with all chords: Example, going up on key of C: you can do Cmaj7, C#dim7, D-7, D#dim7, E-7, Edim7, Fmaj7, F#dim7, G7, G#dim7, A-7, A#dim7, G/B, Bdim7, Cmaj7….
And going down, could be: Cmaj7, Cdim7, G/B, Bbdim7, A-7, Abdim7, G7, Gbdim7, Fmaj7, Fdim7, E-7, Ebdim7, D-7, Dbdim7, Cmaj7
Dude this is the … Dude this is the simplicity I’ve been looking for!! I play classical and I can’t figure out Jazz for the life of me and couldn’t find anything to help. This is a good start!
For those who are … For those who are ok at chords, here’s the low-down!
This is simply a descending chromatic series of 7th chords (1,3,5,Minor7)
However, the cool sound comes from the added 9th, which is alternating between 9th and sharpened 9th i.e.;
Remember to include the major 3rd in your voicings as it is the clash of this with the sharpened 9th (essentially a minor 3rd) which creates the tension in that chord.

The 5th in a Dominanth 7th Chord sounds awful.
Try this:
> T 7° with left hand
> 3° 13° 9° whith right hand.

F7+9
