What is a good age for a child (boy) to start voice lessons?

My son is almost 11 years old and enjoys singing. But, I know that the voice needs to mature and must be treated properly to reach its full potential. When is a good time for him to start private lessons?

Now would actually be a good time. Although his voice will probably start maturing, he would already have the proper training in order to maintain the notes and whatnot. He could keep practicing and pushing his voice as it matures to still be able to hit the same notes, and grow with his voice.

Now, is a good time…at a young age, it's good to prepare…it's good if you wanna wait till he turns 13 but he can have lessons while at age 11…and have a chance in contests by the time he turns 14 or 15…in my country, 6 – 10 years is good to start voice lessons…give it a try…

I'm no pro but i feel if he likes to sing push him some .. does he want to go for lessons? My mom couldn't afford lessons for me years ago to learn to play the drums, And had no room for a set of drums ..And you had to be in the really smart classes in school to get a music class .. So i used bang on what ever i can in my bedroom to the stereo and caught on . And learned to get my hands in-sink Got a few music books ,, Then i found that there was a place called a rehearsal studio .. where i can pay to just use a drum set .by the hour ,, so then i was on my way to something i wanted to do for a long time ..i use to clean for the guy to get free time .. i learned as much as i can on my own and became pretty good .. for a self taught kid ..then he gave me a old set . And then i went for lessons . and it opened a door to a new world ,, So if hes sounding good now . just think with the wright breathing and training .. Hey ya never know .. Good luck .. i say start him asap //

Right now is the perfect time to start lessons. Make sure that you find a good teacher that will help in developing his voice. Ask the middle school music teacher if they give after school lessons, if they don't they will be able to put you in touch with someone who does. Make sure that you have him take lessons from someone who has training, you want the instruct to be one that knows how to help develop young voices. Good luck finding a teacher.
